Adventure tour to Syria
Day 1: Meet And Assist At Damascus International Airport,
Transfer To Hotel And Overnight.
Day 2: Breakfast, Full Day Damascus City Tour on foot to
explore the city: Visit The National Museum, Ottoman mosque, Hijaz railway
station dating to 1914, walk through the historical via recta, street called
straight, the place which was mentioned in the Old Testament, Old Souqs and
bazaars of Damascus, spice bazaar, Umayyad mosque, where the old city with its
medieval and 17th century houses, back to hotel for overnight.
Day 3: Breakfast, leave Damascus by coach to the north to
visit Maalula, where people still speak Aramaic, the same language Jesus spoke
and taught. There we can see the monastery of St. Gergius, the oldest one in
the area, and walking through rocky cliffs to explore the prehistoric caves and
grottos in the area. Then drive by bus to Nabk area and start the walking tour
in the mountain to see the inaccessible monastery of St. Mosa the Abesine, the excursion
can be made halfway by minibus and then continue on foot climbing the mountain
to get there, (picnic lunch), back to the bus and drive to Homs for Dinner and
overnight.
Day 4: Breakfast, leave Homs, to the city of Noria (water
wheels), then continue to Apamea, the largest city from the 3ed century B.C
with its one mile wide colonnaded street, 37 meters wide, picnic lunch, then to
Aleppo for hotel dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Breakfast, Full Day Visit Of Aleppo (the capital
of the north. Which witnessed all the cultures for the last 7000 years and
stood against all invaders): Museum, Aleppo Citadel (the best example of Arab
Moslem medieval military castles), The Great Mosque, The Souks; where you can
easily test the aromatic atmosphere of the orient (Bazaars) And Khans
(Caravanserais). Overnight In Aleppo.
Day 6: Breakfast, full day to the dead cities expedition
tour, St. Simon, Al Bara, Qalb Louza, dinner will be with the villagers and
overnight at the local houses with the families.
Day 7: Breakfast, Departure To Visit Raqa (the second
capital of the Abbasids empire of Baghdad’’ see the old city walls’’ the
Abbasids mosque the Arabian nights palace= Qasr Al-Banat) And Rassafa
(Sergepolis, the crystal town with its beautiful basilicas cathedral and under
ground cisterns) Euphrates Dam. Proceed To Der Ezzor For Hotel And Overnight.
Day 8: Breakfast, Full Day Visit Der Ezzor, Halabia,
Zalabia, (by ferry boat), Der Ezzor museum, a ferry boat tour to Euphrates Dam
back To Hotel For Overnight.
Day 9: Breakfast, Departure To Visit Mari (3rd
millennium B.C town destroyed once by the great Acadian king Sargon the 1st
then by the Babylonian king Hamoraby) and Doura Euroupes (a classical town with
more than a dozen of temples the most outstanding one is the synagogue).
Continue to Palmyra, rest the day free and sunset watching in the desert from
the Arab citadel in Palmyra, overlooking the historical Palmyra and the Oasis.
Dinner and overnight in hotel Palmyra.
Day 10: Breakfast, Palmyra city tour visiting: museum, the
temple of Bel,(built in 32 A.D 40 000 square meters) the great colonnade and
the valley of tombs, Amphitheater, Agora, Baalshamine, prepare to a dinner in a
tent in the desert with a Bedouin band. Back to hotel for overnight.
Day 11: Breakfast, leave towards to Damascus, free day at
leisure, Panorama of Damascus from Qassion mountain 1200 meters over see level.
Day 12: After breakfast, leave Damascus to the south, start
visiting Bosra, then to Sweida area to see Qanawat, Shahba, dinner will be with
the villagers of Sweida (Druze area), overnight in Bosra at Bosra Cham Palace. One
of the villagers same area.
Day 13: After breakfast, leave the villagers and drive to
the volcanic area of Laja, for hiking passing by Tel Sheihan, made of natural
volcanic ash, lunch will be in a large natural caveat Ariqa, back to Damascus
for hotel dinner and overnight.
Day 14: Breakfast, Transfer To Airport For Departure.
